Q. | What pulse rate do I need on my MJ-Series meter? |
A. | It depends on the application. If you are using the meter to pace a chemical metering pump, see "Using Sensors with LMI Pumps" (also applicable to other brands of pump). If the signal is going to a water treatment control that counts pulses, such as a cooling tower control, one pulse per 10 or 100 gallons is very commonly used. |
Q. | Should I order an MJE or an MJR meter? |
A. | The only difference is the pickup. The MJE has a solid-state pickup, the MJR has a mechanical reed switch, commonly called a "dry contact". If your controller calls for a dry contact, go with an MJR. All SeaMetrics controls and LMI chemical metering pumps accept the MJE. The advantage of the MJE is that it has no moving parts and in theory can last forever, while the MJR has a finite life, like a light bulb. (If you order an MJE for use with an LMI pump, be sure to specify the LMI connector, which makes the meter totally plug-compatible with the pump.) |
Q. | Can I change the pulse rate on an MJ-Series meter? |
A. | Yes. The instruction manual on this website has detailed instructions. |
